How did you become involved with EOCA:
Ski Touring in the Dolomites
As part of a company like Patagonia, that is guided by the ambitious mission statement “To make the best product, cause no unnecessary harm and use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis”, I have known about EOCA since the beginning of its activities. I got directly involved in the autumn last year (2011) when I was asked to represent Patagonia after the sudden passing of Holger Bismann, the former GM of Patagonia and president of EOCA.
Number of years in the outdoor industry:
I have been working in the Outdoor Industry, always with Patagonia, since 1995.
What else do you promote to support conservation:
I try to minimise my eco footprint in everything I do and I’m pushing all the people I come into contact with to do the same. Furthermore, whenever I have the chance, I try to convince other companies that a different approach to their business, being more environmentally friendly, is not only possible but also profitable and the right thing to do. I love the quotation from David Brower “There is no business to be done on a dead planet”.
Favourite wild place:
Patagonia, although unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to go there yet.
