As a modern family-run company and Europe’s environmentally friendly outdoor supplier, VAUDE takes its social and environmental responsibility very seriously. We breathe life into this maxim in all three of our business segments: Mountain Sports, Bike Sports and Packs ‘n Bags.
We have been working with the strict environmental bluesign® system since 2001, which controls the entire textile manufacturing chain. We were also the first Outdoor company to receive EMAS certification. We will also continue to improve our environmental performance in the future and have set ourselves the goal of gradually transforming the entire product palette so that it is manufactured according to the highest standards of environmental compatibility. We are working to make (y)our world a better place.
VAUDE’s roots are in mountain sports. The passion we experience on the ascent and the peace we find at the top are what drive us. Without the mountains, VAUDE wouldn’t be what it is today. It is our foundation, our brand symbol, and it stands for the high expectations we place on ourselves as a company and on our products.
When did you join EOCA?
VAUDE: Going the eco-friendly and fair route...
VAUDE has been member of EOCA right from the beginning.
Why our company is involved with EOCA?
Nature is the `playground´ for ourselves and our customers, this is where our products are put to use. Of course we take a huge interest in protecting nature.
We support EOCA because we know conservation is a team sport: It needs joined resources to really make a difference.
What else do we do to support conservation?
Phases of the Green Shape product cycle
VAUDE and the WWF Germany have been partners since 2011 and this successful collaboration has just been extended until the end of 2018.
VAUDE outfits the WWF team with clothing and equipment for outdoor use and in addition, receives expert advice on environmental issues from the collaboration. For example, a joint paper policy was implemented in which VAUDE has made a commitment to only use recycling paper or FSC-certified paper.
Environmental protection is a very high priority at VAUDE. The company has commited itself to reduce the environmental footprint of its products. Right from the beginning of the development process, VAUDE ensures its products’ longevity with high-quality materials and a timeless design. VAUDE also supports consumers to extend the life-cycle of their products by creating innovative tools like repair services, re-selling platforms or rental services.
Our best green product and why?
The VAUDE Eco Collection
Our Green Shape Label offers functional, environmentally friendly products made from sustainable materials. We are vigilant about fair working conditions throughout the supply chain during the manufacturing process.
Our criteria for evaluation are strict and transparent. They are under constant review and cover the entire life cycle of the product – from design to production, care, repair and utilization.
